How to detect terminal short circuit fault

The failure of the wire and the terminal may also be caused by a short circuit between the wire harness and the body (ground wire) or within the relevant switch. Before checking, first check whether the terminals of the body are firmly fixed, and then test according to the following steps.
1. Check the on-off of wires
First remove the terminals on both sides of the control computer ECU and the sensor, and then measure the resistance between the corresponding terminals of the terminals. If the resistance is not more than 1 ohm, the wire is OK for the next inspection. When measuring the resistance of the wire, it is best to gently shake the wire in both vertical and horizontal directions to improve the accuracy of the measurement. At the same time, note that most wire terminals and multimeter meters should be inserted from the rear end of the connector, but for waterproof terminals equipped with waterproof sleeves, the meter cannot be inserted from the rear end, because the terminals will be deformed if they are not carefully inserted.
2. Check the resistance value of short circuit
First remove the wire terminals on both sides of the control computer ECU and the sensor, and then measure the resistance value between the terminal blocks of the connectors on both sides and the body. When measuring, one end of the meter bar is grounded to the body, and the other end is measured on the wire connectors on both sides. If the resistance value is greater than 1 ohm, it means that there is no short circuit fault between the wire and the body.
3. Inspection of terminal appearance and contact pressure
First of all, remove each terminal one by one, check whether there is rust or dirt on the connector terminal, and clean up the rust and dirt. Then check whether the terminal piece is loose or damaged, whether the terminal is fixed firmly, and the terminal shall not be loose when gently pulled. On the contrary, if the plug terminal in which one of the housing holes is pulled out more easily than the other housing holes, the housing hole may cause a malfunction of poor contact in use.
